The Ministry of Health has announced the launch of a landmark free malaria vaccination campaign targeting children under the age of five in 200 high-burden districts across the country. Over two million vaccine doses have been procured for the first phase of the program.
Malaria remains the leading cause of hospitalization among children in the country, accounting for approximately 30% of all outpatient visits. The new vaccine, which has shown 77% efficacy in clinical trials, will be administered in four doses starting at six months of age.
