National Basketball League Expands to 14 Teams
Two new franchises join the league for the upcoming season, bringing professional basketball to previously underserved regions.

The National Basketball League has announced an expansion to 14 teams for the upcoming 2026-27 season, welcoming two new franchises based in the Western and Northern regions. The expansion marks the first time professional basketball will have a permanent presence in those areas.
The new teams will play in refurbished municipal arenas upgraded with modern seating, LED scoreboards, and professional broadcast facilities. League officials estimate the expansion will create over 300 direct jobs and generate 15 million cedis in annual economic activity across the two regions.
