Local Government Elections Set for November

The Electoral Commission has officially confirmed that local government elections will take place in November this year, with nomination processes beginning in early September. Over 38,000 candidates are expected to contest for district assembly and unit committee positions nationwide.

The elections will see the introduction of biometric voter verification at all 28,000 polling stations for the first time in local polls. The commission has also pledged to deploy additional staff to rural and hard-to-reach areas to ensure inclusive participation.
